This piece was an experimentation of different ways to create lines. In the greyscale pieces, the lines were made by laying tape down before painting the image, and peeling off after, to create linework underneath rather than on top of the final image. The other two pieces tested different thicknesses of paint pens and paintbrushes. All four pieces therefore had different levels of control and accuracy in the line making process.
These are some examples of the artists that were researched in creating lines in different ways. Gray Hume drew the outlines of figures over the top of a monochrome background, while Bernard Cohen made this piece using oil paint and tempera, creating two textures within the single line.
